Bern’s Daughter City New Bern in North Carolina will celebrate its 300 years of existence in 2010.

‘Old’ Bern, too, acknowledges this proud jubilee of the oldest Swiss settlement in the U.S.A. After all, the Bernese emigrant Christoph de Graffenried was the one who founded New Bern in 1710.
Action leader in Bern is the Association 300 Years New Bern composed of members of the de Graffenried Family, the City of Bern, the Bern Community of Burghesses, the Swiss American Historical Society, Bern Tourism and additional partners.
